Ayumi Hamasaki

The discography of Ayumi Hamasaki, a Japanese singer, consists of ten original studio albums,[note 1], forty-four singles,[note 2] five compilation albums, nineteen remix albums, eighteen concert DVDs, and four box sets.

Hamasaki released her first album, Nothing from Nothing (1995), on Nippon Columbia. However, the album did not chart on the Oricon, and the label dropped her. Shortly afterward, Hamasaki signed on to Avex Trax; she released a string of singles in 1998 followed by her first album under Avex, A Song for XX, in 1999. Since 2003, Hamasaki's sales have been declining. "&" (July 2003) was her last single to sell at least 500,000 copies; (Miss)understood (January 2006) was her first album not to sell a million copies in stores, and Secret (November 2006) was her first album not to be certified million by the RIAJ. Hamasaki has sold about 50 million records and is one of Japan's best-selling musicians.
